It's probably moot anyhow. Even the New York Times expects Trump to gain enough delegates to win on the first ballot, even if he gives those delegates back, as you propose. The time is approaching where conservatives will have to back the winning candidate, just as we did with McCain and Romney. I think Trump is much better than either of those candidates.

Yes. But there is a still (a little bit of) time to prevent an establishment Democrat from winning the Republican nomination.
